Company

 

Shaun Keylock Company is a platform for contemporary dance and performance dedicated to new movement research and cross-disciplinary collaboration. 

Founded by choreographer Shaun Keylock as a framework for his ongoing interest in fields both beyond and in dialogue with dance, the company creates unique works of contemporary performance that are at once both technically sound and radically subversive, often exploring the many facets of LGBT and queer identity. 

The company connects audiences to contemporary dance and performance through various performances, public programs, workshops, and exhibitions. In addition, the company also provides direct support to both emerging and established artists by providing a collaborative platform for ongoing movement research and performance studies, enriching the arts ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest.

Liane Burns

Liane Burns

Liane Burns has performed as a company member and collaborator with San Francisco based companies FACT/SF and detour dance, including many other independent artists. She received her BFA in Dance Performance from Chapman University, and completed a year of post graduate studies in Jerusalem, Israel, while apprenticing with Amir Kolben Dance Company.

Matthew Cichon

Matt Cichon

Matt Cichon is an interdisciplinary artist specializing in contemporary dance. Originally from New Jersey, Matt holds a B.F.A. in Dance from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where he attended on full scholarship. In NYC, he danced with Expandance, Michael Mao Dance, and Ekilibre Dance Company.

Since moving to Portland In early 2014, Matt has danced and choreographed with Top Shake Dance, The Holding Project, PDX Contemporary Ballet and Raw Artists Portland and Seattle.

In addition to collaborating and performing with Shaun Keylock Company, Matt is intensely involved with choreographing, dancing in and co-producing dance and performance art for film. He particularly values and enjoys improvisation and is also a painter using mixed media.

Daniel Do

Daniel Do

Trung “Daniel” Do is a growing artist immersed in the field of dance. He received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in Modern Dance from the University of Utah on a 4-year artistic merit scholarship. During his time there he has had the pleasure to work and collaborate with notable choreographers including Shaun Boyle, Juan Carlos Claudio, Katie Faulkner, Molly Heller, Satu Hummasti, Stephen Koester, Sharee Lane, Stephen Petronio, and Lesley Telford.

Daniel has been selected as a supplemental dancer with professional companies: Ririe Woodbury Dance Company, under the artistic direction of Daniel Charon and Repertory Dance Theatre, under the artistic direction of Linda Smith. Additionally, he is a member of Cat + Fish Dances, a project-based dance company under the direction of Cat Kamrath.

As a performer, Daniel has been a part of various creative processes that have been invited to be seen at multiple dance festivals: The American College Dance Association, Breaking Ground: Dance and Film Festival, Fringe Festival, and Women in Dance Leadership Conference. 

Most recently, Daniel relocated to Oregon where he collaborated and performed with Polaris Dance Theatre and presented his choreography at the Fertile Ground Festival of New Work and served as a guest dancer in Utah with Ririe Woodbury Dance Company for their Alwin Nikolais France tour. He is excited to collaborate and be a part of Shaun Keylock Company in their launch of their inaugural 2018/19 season!

Kristalyn Gill

Kristalyn Gill

Kristalyn Gill, a North Carolina native, graduated from East Carolina University with dual degrees in Dance Performance (BFA) and Interpersonal/Organization Communication (BS) on full-scholarship. She is a dancer, choreographer, educator, researcher, spoken word poet, and self-published author.

Kristalyn has trained with Sidra Bell, NW Dance Project, Koresh Dance Company, Mark Haim, Nicholas Leichter, and BODYTRAFFIC in addition to studying at the American Dance Festival. She received her university training under the guidance of John Dixon, Teal Darkenwald, David Ingram, Danielle Sheather, Tommi Galaska, Galina Panova, Ji-Eun Lee, and Patti Weeks.

She has performed the repertory of William Forsythe, Roni Koresh, Emily Schoen, Amanda K. Miller, Anton Lachky, Arthur Pita, and Gustavo Ramírez Sansano. In 2014, Kristalyn was a soloist performer at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theatre for the American Dance Guild Festival. Additionally, she has danced in original works by Joe Cotler, Mark Haim, Kanon Sapp, and Elizabeth Whelan.

Jillian Hobbs

Jillian Hobbs

Jillian Hobbs, a former competitive gymnast, discovered her love for dance at age 13. She began training at Northern California Dance Conservatory in Roseville, California. She continued to pursue a BFA in Modern Dance Performance at SUNY Purchase College in New York.

Jillian has had the opportunity to work with choreographers including Jessica Lang, Doug Varone, Adam Barruch, Ori Flomin, and Sidra Bell. In her third year at SUNY, she was selected to study at the Amsterdam School of the Arts in Amsterdam, Netherlands; there she studied Gaga, Countertechnique, and Forsythe.

Upon graduating with honors in 2015, Jilllian continued to pursue her career in New York City, performing as a guest artist for Sidra Bell Dance New York. A year later, she moved back to the west
coast in May 2016 and began dancing for The Holding Project, WolfBird Dance, and Katie Scherman + Artists. This is her first season with Shaun Keylock Company.

Andrés Peraza

Andrés Peraza-Aguillón

Andrés Peraza-Aguillón is a Portland native. He’s a graduate of Arts and Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA) in Beaverton, Oregon where he discovered his love for dance. He continued his studies at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, under the direction of Seán Curran. Additional training includes: Nashville Ballet, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.

Andrés is currently a freelance artist performing and working in Portland. He worked with BodyVox and Éowyn Emerald & Dancers last season, and is currently working with Shaun Keylock Company.

Mar Undag

Mar Undag

Edromar "Mar" Undag is a dance artist, choreographer, and teacher who graduated from the University of Utah and earned a BFA in Modern Dance in 2017.

Throughout his dance career, Mar has had the great pleasure of performing in various works by choreographers including Juan-Carlos Claudio, Katie Faulkner, Eric Handman, Satu Hummasti, Stephen Koester, Dave Massey, Sadie Weinberg, Teresa Jankovic, and Stephen Petronio.

In addition to his academic and performance pursuits, Mar has had his own choreographic work presented in various platforms including the American College Dance Association, Marriott Center for Dance, MiraCosta Theater, Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, Peery’s Egyptian Theater, the Salt Palace Convention Center, and in the fertile ground festival of new work.

From his performance and choreographic endeavors, Mar has discovered an affinity for teaching. During his undergraduate studies he taught at multiple local studios in Utah and worked for the University of Utah as a dance instructor for the REFUGES program in conjunction with ArtsBridge.

Since relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Mar has worked with Polaris Dance Theater, where he danced in both the company’s productions as well as presented his own work.

Trevor Wilde

Trevor Wilde

Trevor Wilde is a dance artist based in Portland, Oregon. He received his BFA in Modern Dance from University of Utah where he was a recipient of two talent scholarships and the Fine Arts Advisory Board Scholarship.

Wilde was a guest dancer with the Utah-based dance company Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company for their spring 2017 season, and was a company member with the Kinuko Modern Dance Company from 2015-2016. In addition to ballet and contemporary training, Wilde has also trained in Bharatanatyam technique and performed with Chitrakaavya Dance in Salt Lake City, UT with the Minneapolis-based Ragamala Dance Company.

Wilde is currently a dancer with the Polaris Dance Theatre in Portland, OR and premiered his most recent work-in-progress “SSA” through the Polaris Dance Theatre in the the Fertile Ground Festival’s dance portion “Groovin’ Greenhouse.”

Wilde has an interest in researching how mindfulness affects the body in movement and creative processes, and is eager to pursue an MFA in the future to facilitate this work.
