Counterpoints — 2022

Counterpoints was a mixed repertory dance program presented Dec 8-10, 2022 at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.

Shaun Keylock Company opened the 2022/23 season with a contemporary dance performance that addressed the distinct experience of time. This mixed repertory bill featured company and world premieres by choreographers Josie Moseley (“Travis John”, “Arms Reach”) and Jessica Hightower (“Problem of Bias”).

Taken together these works, along with the return of Artistic Director Shaun Keylock’s “Anthem,” made for evening of contemporary dance that continued SKC’s tradition of cultivating new works and perspectives.

Lovely Beautiful — 2022

Lovely Beautiful was a mixed repertory dance program presented June 2-4, 2022 at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.

Through an intergenerational perspective, in this program, SKC drew from its extensive catalog of works by two of Portland’s most beloved modern dance choreographers, Josie Moseley ("With") and Gregg Bielemeier ("Lovely Beautiful," "Odd Duck Lake") and premiered a new work by SKC Artistic Director Shaun Keylock ("Anthem").

Romp – 2021

Romp was a retrospective of nine works by Portland choreographer Gregg Bielemeier, created between 1993 and 2002, and presented Nov 12-13, 2021 at Lincoln Performance Hall.

Described as “wonderfully inventive” and “marvelously goofy,” Bielemeier’s work has captivated audiences for over 50 years.
